This does wipe all existing data but with cheap SSDs it's not beyond the realms of possibility you could buy a dedicated drive. It's not advertised within the OS but there's a command which easily copies the OS partitions to an internal hard drive. There are live disc versions too, but with writable media you're able to save your settings and carry the OS around with you.

The easiest of them is to download an image, write it to a USB drive or SD card and boot this from your laptop or PC. You've got an array of options for trying Chromium OS. If you want to give someone easy, no fuss access to Google services it should be a tempting choice. Good question, and the answer is not everyone wants a full-fat distro, nor can everyone use a full-fat distro. Apple has been using its own processors for its iPhone lineup for over a decade now. The tech giant is increasing the efforts to develop its own chips similar to its global rivals like Apple that is pursuing the same strategy and shifting away from Intel CPUs for its MacBook devices. And upcoming Chrome OS devices can be expected to pack Google's in-house SoCs.Ī Nikkei Asia report citing sources claims that Google is working on its own central processors for Chrome OS running notebooks and tablets. The company now looks to continue with the same strategy for its other hardware products. This comes after Google confirmed that it will be using to its own SoC called Tensor for its Pixel lineup starting this year with the Pixel 6 series. The tech giant may roll out the new central processors sometime in 2023.
Google is reportedly developing its own CPUs for future Chromebooks and also tablets running Chrome OS.
